LEAPS 2018/2019 Final Convergence and Graduation

April 12, 2019

The HLA graduated another 30 participants from the Leadership Enhancement and Accountability for the Public Sector (LEAPS) Programme; a 9-month long programme that aims to strengthen states' primary healthcare system by building leadership, management and quality improvement capabilities of mid and senior level policymakers and administrators tasked with the governance of health services.

On this cohort of the LEAPS Programme, we had 30 participants from 3 states, the participants completed the 9 months, gave it their best and implemented their learnings in form of capstone projects. The graduation ceremony was a time to have stakeholders look at what they have done, encourage the work they have put in and charge them on as transformation agents within the healthcare system.

There were worthy of note people at the graduation such as Dr. Paulin Basinga Country Director, Nigeria Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Prof. Isaac Adewole Honourable Minister of Health Federal Republic of Nigeria who was represented by Minister of State for Health Dr Osagie Ehanire, Dr. Faisal Shuaib Executive Director National Primary Healthcare Development Agency who was also represented by Head of the Primary Healthcare Revitalization Unit Dr Otoh Daniel and the Honorable Commissioners from the various states Kaduna - Dr Paul Dogo, Niger - Dr Mustapha Jibril, Nasarawa - Dr Roseline Kela who came to encourage and support the work of their subordinates.
