Unoma Grant

Graduated from the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. She attended the Senior Management Program at the Lagos Business School in Nigeria in 2016 and the Health Management Program at the Pan African University’s Enterprise Development Centre in 2018.

She worked as a Human Resources/ Industrialization Analyst with Nextzon Business Services from 2009 – 2011 where she helped develop and implement Human resources and Operational procedures and guidelines in several SMEs. In 2010 she began working with Dr. Onyia in to start Paelon and in 2011 left Nextzon and Joined Paelon full time as the Assistant to the Administrative Partner. Since then she has gradually risen to the position of Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all the non-medical operations & staff of the hospital, the hospital’s brand.

In March 2019, She was certified by the International Finance Corporation as an EDGE Expert.She is a healthcare administrator with over 11 years proven experience leading transformation in complex organisational structures, as well as devising and implementing successful strategies during start-up, growth and crisis phases. Core to her achievements are having led the a process transformation that saw Paelon Memorial Hospital become the first hospital in Africa to obtain a 5-star Safe Care rating, out of 1,984 prior assessed healthcare providers. She also led all expansion projects that grew Paelon from a 200m 26-man clinic to a 1,154m 213 bed hospital employing 117 people.

Most recently, in response to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Management of Paelon opted to convert its Ikeja branch to a fully dedicated 11 bed Covid-19 treatment centre. She oversaw the conversion and finalised the necessary facility, process and manpower changes. She has consistently demonstrated the ability to optimise processes and cultivate effective teams.
