Dr Babatunde Ajayi

Dr Babatunde Ajayi is a certified physician and Global Health consultant with over seven years post-qualification experience in the global practice of primary health care delivery, reproductive health, epidemiology and Research. He is currently the Special Assistant on Health to the Lagos state government. After qualifying from the Lagos State University in 2014, Dr Ajayi proceeded to the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium where he obtained a Masters degree in Public Health. He also attended the Warwick Business School in England for another Masters in Business Administration.

As the Special Assistant on Health to the Lagos state government, Dr Ajayi works directly with the Commissioner for Health; to whom he offers technical support on modern healthcare programmes and initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services for the people of Lagos state. Passionate about mitigating public health challenges in our society, Dr Babatunde has been instrumental to various initiatives and programmes recently implemented by the Lagos State Ministry of health. He currently leads and serves on a number of teams including the Lagos State COVID-19 response team. 

In his contributions to the development of public health and reproductive health outcomes in Lagos and Nigeria at large, he has won several awards including First Place at the GSK Global Health Case Competition and Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship. His research publications include: “Reaching health facilities in situations of emergency; qualitative study capturing experiences of pregnant women in Africa’s largest megacity”; “Multi-stakeholder perspectives on access, availability and utilization of emergency obstetric care services in Lagos, Nigeria: A mixed-methods study”; among others.

Dr Babatunde Ajayi is a highly analytical and adventurous professional, known for adding value to systems and organizations with the assailable vision of making a revolutionary global impact. He speaks English, French, Hausa, Spanish, and Yoruba fluently.
