Dr Folajimi Adebowale

Dr Folajimi Adebowale is a Primary Care Physician and a Health Communication and Visual media expert.

He has 15 years experience that has spanned private medical practice, health communications and healthcare consultancy. More recently, he has worked on social behaviour-change communication campaigns and is an experienced documentary filmmaker.

He studied Medicine at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the Healthcare Leadership Academy and the European Business University. As a Physician, he has a good background in emergency medicine and has worked extensively in hospitals in the outskirts of Lagos where collaboration with TBAs in the community led to saving lives of hundreds of women and children with emergency obstetric skills.

As a self-taught cinematographer, he founded Recon Health Media in 2010, a media company focused on Health and environment content. Recon Health Media has worked on social behavioural change communication campaigns, commissioned documentaries with non-profits and government agencies. He produced documentaries for USAID projects in Nigeria; the Mother and Child Survival Programme and the Integrated Health Programme which were executed by a Consortium led by JHPIEGO and Palladium respectively. Recon Health Media is currently working on a medical docu-drama series titled- TELLYDOC for social and mainstream media.

He is currently the Clinical Team Lead in Nigeria for a VisionQuest Biomedical, a US company that uses Artificial intelligence software and devices to diagnose and pick diseases early. VisionQuest is currently conducting a clinical study in Nigeria across 9 centers on the use of their AI software in the diagnosis of Cerebral malaria.

Dr Fola has had guest features on BBC, CNN, Channels TV, Galaxy TV, Africa News plus TV and was the in-house Dr for the then Moments with Mo show.  He is the Program Coordinator for the United Nations Association of Nigeria (UNA-Nigeria).

He loves classical and 90 hip-hop music and he also loves karaoke parties.
